The Neighborhoods

South Beach: the marina, the coast, the real estate. A commercial and resort area with upscale private homes and condos overlooking the bay and several scenic waterfalls. Bridges connect to Millwood to the north, Sandy Point to the east, and a larger urban area to the west. The island in the bay has a more modest community on its south shore.

Sandy Point:

Fishing boats and ferries, and the real estate isn't usually called 'real estate'.

Millwood:

Rustic but definitely not cheap, this community is located in the front range. Cooper's parents, Shooter James, and Melinda all have homes in this area.

Shortly before their meteoric rise to fame, they replaced their original drummer with Daniel Whitney. After their first record went double platinum, Cooper founded Hitman Records with co-owner Slim Savage. Cooper is considered the premier rock guitarist of his time. Some even say he is a legend. Imaginative, creative, sensual and seductive, he can be temperamental at times.

Cooper's first marriage, a union he impulsively made after knowing Julia for less than a week, fell into pieces after a long separation. Struggling with trauma and physical and emotional injuries, he couldn't find the support he desperately needed and felt trapped and overwhelmed with Julia's need for constant reassurance. He walked out, leaving her with a small child, and although he tried to forge a bond with his son Wyatt, the relationship was bitter and broken. He met his second wife when he literally hit her with his bike when she was crossing the street. She was fighting through her own break up with a man she thought she loved who would not commit. Although neither of them immediately remembered the occasion, they'd met before, once, as very young teens, only once on a beach. The relationship is volatile, passionate, intense, sweet and loving but scarred. Mutual betrayal has not destroyed the love but it has destroyed the trust.

After his father recovered from amnesia, his family was reunited and Wyatt spent his later toddler years with both parents until their eventual separation and divorce. Being raised during his childhood in two homes but primarily by his mother due to his father's traveling, Wyatt grew into a rebellious teen. Upon discovering his murdered mother's body, Wyatt moved in with his father and lashed out in anger and grief blaming his father for Julia's fate and his step-mother for their break-up. Wyatt has matured since his mother's death and has managed to finally patch his tenuous relationship with his father and Beth. Background: Born into a family with more lineage than money: fox hunting, charity balls, and polo. When her parents were killed in an auto accident when she was in her late teens, she rented a house on the beach in Bay View and set out to learn how to take care of herself. With little in the way of actual marketable skills apart from small aptitude for design, it was a struggle she never really won.

Her first love was a divorced man with small children (Tony Lombardo, Camilla Lombardo's older brother), an intense and passionate relationship she hoped and expected would last despite every indication that it would not. She stubbornly held on long past reason, until he finally and clearly refused to commit. She was devastated, hurt, angry, frightened and determined to never do it again.

And then she did it again. Beth met Cooper Stanfield on the side of the road when he hit her with his bike about half an hour after she walked off from Tony. Cooper was in the middle of a divorce from his wife and trying to pull himself together after a serious injury, stunned and confused and, at that moment in time, needy. They took care of each other, a relationship built on mutual support and intense and overwhelming emotional and sexual attachment. They orbit around one another, caught and held fast, in love, but struggling with a sensual, complex, sometimes destructive relationship. Her affair with her bodyguard Ryan McDermott ripped her marriage to Cooper into pieces, pieces they tried to put back together, sometimes desperately, but not with much success. What she started, Cooper finished.

Physically and emotionally passionate, Beth is also reckless, volatile, loving, stubborn, and not as analytical as she would like to think she is. She makes excuses. She can show an impressive capacity for denial. She's also ultimately, completely, fatally, in love with Cooper.

Duff's Ten Things Meme

1. Duff once received a dinner invitation from a woman he met in a sex club. Intrigued by the design of the invitation, which included a key and instructions, he accepted. Moved in with his father for a brief period before he went to college - where he basically ripped through everything female he felt like taking down. He came very close to completely self destructing and may have permanently crashed if not for the love and care of his wife. After spending so much time on this lot, I need to figure out why I spent so much time on this lot. Anyway, since I spent SO much time on it, here are some shots. It's not finished yet...the bathrooms still look pretty bare and the kitchen isn't much better. I haven't posted any shots of the bathrooms since I'm still really unhappy with them.

I'm constantly looking for constructive criticism about anything.

This lot was a download (don't remember from where) that Gayl originally redid and decorated. I've made a few changes, trying to keep Jimmy's rather complex character and history in mind. He inherited the place. He had limited funds, no way to adequately maintain it, and has made very few changes since he finally got a contract. The place is heated with a woodstove (not much in the way of heat required even during mid winter). A window air conditioner, a fan and windows that open provide cooling during the hot summers.

The tarot cards and Ouija board on the coffee table are important. And there are no books in his house.

As always with our lots, they have to function ingame. I can't overdo the clutter.

ETA: I finished more spaces and added more shots. As always, I would love help, criticism, suggestions.
